Course Description

The APM PMQ (APM Project Management Qualification) is a widely recognised certification that offers learners an advanced understanding of project management, including how different elements of a project interact and how projects fit into the broader strategic and commercial context. This course is ideal for those working in project management who want to develop the skills to move into leadership roles within their teams.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this course you will be able to:

 

  • Understand the nature of projects, their operating environment, and organisational structures within a project
  • Communicate effectively within a project team and implement practices to avoid conflict within a team setting
  • Successfully plan projects and manage stakeholders and stakeholder expectations
  • Understand the concept of Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Understand project life cycles including linear, iterative and hybrid models
  • Manage and optimise resources using schedules and understand procurement and supplier selection

 

By successfully passing the exam at the end of the course, you will also achieve an APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), an industry recognised qualification certified by the Association for Project Management.

This course is available to all adults over the age of 18 resident in the Republic of Ireland.

Does the course have prerequisites? 

This course is designed for learners who already possess substantial project management experience. We recommend that before taking this course, you have four years of project management experience and have already achieved the APM Project Fundamentals (PFQ) qualification.

Does this course have tutor support?

Yes, this course is supported by an online tutor who you will have access to during the course.

What is the exam like on this course?

The exam for this course is administered by APM and is taken online. The exam requires that you answer questions in essay-style and you must answer ten questions from a total of 16 possible questions. You cannot use study materials during the exam. The exam lasts for three hours and your results will be available up to eight weeks after the exam. The pass mark for the exam is 55%.

Do I need specific hardware or software?

You will require access to a PC or laptop running a supported version of Microsoft Windows (the most recent version is Windows 11) or MacOS (the most recent version is Sonoma).
