New users will need to create a free account and fill in a short form on FETCH, Ireland's Further Education and Training Hub.

This course operates on a fixed intake basis, with the course beginning on specific dates throughout the year. 

The next course will open for enrolment on 22/07/24 will remain open for enrolment until the course begins on 05/08/2024

Course Description

This online course is designed to equip learners with the basic skills and knowledge needed to excel in the area of data analysis and visualisation using Power BI. This course aims to introduce participants to the core concepts of Power BI, provide hands-on experience with its tools, and foster a collaborative learning environment through practical webinars. By the end of the course, you will have a solid foundation in Power BI fundamentals, practice in utilising its tools for data manipulation and visualisation, and the ability to apply your knowledge through practical projects. 

 

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of Power BI and its significance in data analysis and visualisation. 
  • Use Power BI tools for data importing and transformation. 
  • Create visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI. 
  • Apply theoretical knowledge and solve practical problems.

This course is available to all adults over the age of 18 resident in the Republic of Ireland.

Does the course have prerequisites? 

This is an intermediate level course and previous knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and Access, would be beneficial for learners hoping to take this course.

What is the exam like on this course?

This course does not have a formal exam at the end of the course, however you will be provided with a Certificate of Completion upon your successful completion of all course content.

Do I need specific hardware or software?

You will require access to a PC or laptop running a supported version of Microsoft Windows (the most recent version is Windows 11).  

You may need to install the software applet for the required webinar software.  

Participants will be advised how to access a free trial of Microsoft Power BI for the duration of the course.
