The National Public Libraries Open Day promotes the role of public libraries in Irish society and raises awareness of the broad range of services they provide. The Open Day will take place on Saturday the 28th of September, with more than 300 libraries across Ireland marking the occasion through activities, events, and celebrations.

To coincide with the Day, the 'Take a Closer Look' campaign is encouraging people to take a closer look at the wide-ranging services open to them through their libraries, with the vast majority freely available.

Library services are more accessible than ever, with many services now available online. Over 12 million books - including the latest bestsellers, are available to borrow through your public library. There are also an array of services beyond the borrowing of books that are part of your library membership benefits, including audiobooks, eBooks, eMagazines, computers and laptops, free Wi-Fi, study spaces, talks, courses, workshops, activities, exhibitions, children-focussed activities and events, and sensory services.

If you're studying any of our courses here at eCollege, you may want to consider using what's available at your local library to delve deeper into your topic of study. Be it IT, project management, or sustainability, your local library has an abundance of resources available to you to help you on your learning journey.

We encourage you to visit your local library for National Public Libraries Open Day and join the hundreds of thousands of people who already enjoy the benefits of library membership.
